Re-Elect Our Councilman DION BRACCO. Tackling the Tough Issues Facing Gilroy:
Public safety remains my number one priority and that requires a commitment on the part of the Council and law enforcement agencies to enforce the laws already on the books that protect our residents from gangs, vagrancy, and aggressive panhandling.
Our compassion for the homeless cannot be permitted to trample on the rights of Gilroy residents to clean streets and safe neighborhoods. I will enforce anti-vagrancy ordinances and public health and safety laws to prevent our city from becoming another San Francisco or Los Angeles.
I have steadfastly opposed giant development projects that benefit developers and their attorneys rather than Gilroy residents. That’s why I voted against the 10th Street development, the 721 and the Hecker Pass project. My vote on the Council is NOT for sale. The voters spoke loud and clear in 2016 with the passage of Measure H and I am committed to upholding and implementing the public’s decision in every way possible.
Raising taxes is not the answer to our fiscal problems. I have opposed a variety of tax, fee, and water rate increases over the years while striving to cut wasteful spending and maintain a balanced budget. The state gas tax hike unnecessarily burdens middle and lower-income people and should be repealed in November.
